I have to Post this comment 'cause it gets me every time someone Posts a Video. If you must do it buy/beg/borrow a tripod, put the camera on it, set the focus etc, start it up and press on from there. When I watch these it makes me seasick, which has never happened in the real world. Watch the TV or a film. Is the camerman waving the camera about like some demented hosepipe? Of course he isn't.

Agreed, but the average youtube'r is not often an experienced camera man. The other problem is too much irrelevant footage and not enough editing. I'd rather see the stuff than not though.
Chris,
Clearly acceptability is to some extent a personal thing. Also, what would be the minimum level of acceptability in an amateur video would not be acceptable to a Proffessional. Finally, the fact that there are worse examples, and you are right there are much worse examples, does not make this one in some way acceptable, it's still rubbish.
I'm not in any way suggesting that the only videos that should be Posted are ones made to Professional Standards. What I am saying is that quite simple changes to technique would lead to a vast improvement, and if everyone maintains a low profile and never says anything the situation will never get any better. Suppose people kept Posting pictures of absolutely appalling soldering. Would we all ignore it 'cause 'there's worse examples'? I think not.

No problem with what you say Alan, but as I mentioned earlier, I would rather see the actual subject material from the intrinsic interest perspective than in not being available due to the poster considering themselves not capable of shooting a worthy video.
There is the opportunity to comment on the posters competence if it is felt necessary.
Personally I feel the beauty of youtube is the sheer availability of material on almost every conceivable subject which provides very useful information. In this specific instance where else might we find actual practical visual material on the use of an Avo VCM ?
Sorry Alan I did not mean for you to feel I belittled your thoughts on the matter, looking at my post I guess It could have been interpreted that way, hopefully you know me by now, to know I would not intentionally do that. It was just an observation on the lines of schottky's better phrased posts.
Like the rest of the internet the trouble with YouTube is the amount of stones you have to sift through to find the diamonds. I was looking at a video yesterday entitled something like "Home-made 405 Line Converter" which consisted of a camera aimed at an old telly for fifty-odd seconds with no word of pollination or sign of the converter.
There are some very good things on, like the veneering and French polishing ones recommended by Col.
I suppose it's like writing: just because you've got something interesting to say doesn't mean you've got the skill to say it.
