Victoria Instruments Type BH/1001 C/R Bridge

Just purchased this little item from Ebay for the grand total of £7.99.
But cannot find any information on the internet at all,

Has anyone got any info they could share with me about this piece of equipment,
the seller said not tested, but when switched on, the balance tube illuminates, and the mains pilot light glows.

Looks like quite an elementary affair. If you could trace out the circuit, perhaps a little more light about it may be forthcoming.

IS that a Mullard EM 34 i can see and if it is in good working order you can pay from £20 to £30 For one,

That's what I was thinking Kev, I have a couple of radio's that would benefit from it.
It would imagine it could still be quite bright if original, as it would have not seen as much use as in a receiver.

I know they fetch good money Kev, I came across a couple at last years NVCF, boxed and NOS,
when I inquired as to how much they were, I nearly fell through the floor.

Hopefully the bridge should arrive tomorrow, so will let you know as to the condition of the magic eye.

Indeed, Paula! I was going to suggest exactly the same idea . . . . and then sell the EM34. (And the above posts have prompted me to check my valve stock for EM34s )

Well it arrived today, it was impossible to read the lettering, so a quick clean, and a bit of Tippex rubbed into the recessed
lettering to make it readable, (I will do a proper job, when it has been tested.)

First job is to replace the mains flex, at the moment, this a piece of two core clear wire, that is just slightly thicker than speaker wire,
similar to the type that used to be fitted to table lamps years ago, the electrolytic rated 16uf seems a recent replacement, so that should
hopefully be ok, the other seems a bit older, no maker, just says metalised 1uf + or - 25% 250V DC,
So will test it with my new ESR meter (thanks David).

The magic eye is indeed an EM34, the other is a 6H6G double diode, so presume this is used as a rectifier.

So for the numpty question, will this be suitable for testing caps under load? and if it is, how do I drive it?
