That's not the right s/w - the webcam will do 1600x1200.

Look under the name on the box and v160...

You only need the executable - I'll send it to you tomorrow if you want - it's not large...

My box doesn't have a type number, just the Andonstar name and a bit of other text. It's clearly the v160 as it has all the odd accessories. I guess the software I've found just doesn't do 1600x1200. Nick, the correct files would be much appreciated. Thanks.

In practice if you're manipulating something interactively in real time (eg SM soldering) you probably don't want to go above 800x600 as the frame rate drops below 30Hz. This was flagged in the EEVblog review.

Regarding frame rates... If you use the default YUY2 format then the frame rate drops to 5fps at 1600x1200. HOWEVER... change it to MJPG (in the Options... Video Capture Pin menu) and the frame rate remains at 30fps. I've been using this with no noticeable loss of quality and I can now get a huge image in "real time" (it does refresh at 30fps).

One thing I've noticed, is that the image snapshot doesn't work unless I select from the following menu items: Capture... Still... High Resolution

There seems to be several builds for the software from various vendors, all based on the same base code that can be freely downloaded. Several of these are virtually the same as the one that comes with the Andonstar.

A newer version that works well for me is at http://opti-tekscope.com/software-download/
(supports full resolution).

There is a version at http://opti-tekscope.com/software-download/ but this version causes issues (very slow refresh) when the image is bright, so not recommended.

I'm sure there are other vendor's software that also works.

All of these programs are based on Microsoft's DirectShow Video Capture Sample at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library...s.85).aspx (available on MSDN).

They are all variants on a theme...

If you are using a recent version of DirectX, e.g. on Windows 10, enable VMR9 (Video Mixing Renderer 9) under the "Video" menu - that will use the latest DirectX renderer and improve frame rates at high resolution.
