Peter, The tubes have arrived quick test on the VCR97 type shows it is working but more problems to fix on the old 'scope.
Dave was kind enough to detour and deliver them to our house where I took the opportunity to show him around and demo part of my collection.
He also gave me another tube from an old HP 'scope for good measure. what a gent, thanks to everyone concerned.
