Pye PE80 finish?

I have just bought a PE80. Anyone know what the finish should be on the ends? Two sets were available the one I chose has black pained ends that look original, the one other has polished veneered ends but cracked tuning scale. were two types available. John.

I'm pretty sure that mine has black ends - it's in the attic at the moment.
The one on the RadioMuseum site also looks to have, although it's pretty tatty.

Thank you Alan, There must have been two versions then, as the end on the other set had highly polished quarter veneered panels. Are there any others out there? John.
