Gecophone BC 4000 R.P

I bought this on Sunday at Tonbridge.  It’s a BC 4000 R.P I have had a good look but can’t anything on the web.  Has anyone got any info or seen this model before?

Very well made and beautiful condition. Looks totally original, I bet you are well pleased with it.
Is that not "BO" rather than BC? But all the Gecophones do seem to be BC. Radio Museum has some listed but not 4000. May be similar?

The model does look very BO but there is a little gap in the "O" making it debatable that it might be a "C".
It looks like a professionally built set for a very "posh" home and looks lovely.

It is a good looking set and I think it works.  Looks all original inside.  Once my shoulder is back on form I will try it out.

In the meantime here is another set I picked up at RWB.  This is now one of my favourites and also works.  It was originally owned by Pat Leggit who had a fantastic collection of early bits.

Pat Leggatt (not Leggit) was one of the great figures in UK vintage Wireless. He was chairman of the BVWS for some years as can be seen here: http://www.bvws.org.uk/publications/bull...n_15_1.pdf

As you've said, he had a very fine collection indeed. I had the privilege of meeting him on several occasions.

I've got a few of his 20's sets. Thankfully I can store them safely in the Havering museum.

They are having a bigger wireless exhibition this year so I will let you guys know when its on.
