AI bot scraping has been playing havoc with UKBRR access, though not experienced it on here...yet!

Had a spare of days requiring multiple captcha being required at times where not previously experienced, such as my wife's iPad.

I also noticed that at times text I entered on forums or Facebook can have a "suggested" word replaced what I intended without me spotting it. Eg "archive" swapping with "achieve" and quite a few other examples I have experienced.
Whether AI alone or changes to text input spelling recognition I don't know.

I read today the NCA is getting rather concerned about possibility of AI generated video being used for alibis and so good a jury can be received it seems.
The BBC verify department must cost a fortune just to give the truth. Good job some care about it.
They will never be out of a job it seems.
Personally I would like things as they were rather than what they will probably turn into in times to come.

Firstly I hope this is allowed and in the correct forums.

An announcement I saw today tells about plug in solar panels to help power your house.
Placed on a balcony or anywhere else outside.
No installation required it says. Just plug into a socket.
Hopefully arriving in next few months and available from Amazon, Lidl etc.
How would this work, assuming you are also connected to your electricity supplier all the time?
Edit.
It seems electrical installation regulations are changing to allow for this.
David became Vice Chairman of the BVWS in 1977, its' second year, then Chairman in 1979-1986 and Treasurer for a number of years from 1994. He was a close friend of the late Tony Constable.

I now have funeral details (Golders Green). If you wish to attend, please PM me. I will not post funeral arrangements on this open forum.

The Broadcast Engineering Museum was recently given an early Philips VLP "LaserDisc" player. https://www.rewindmuseum.com/philipslaserdisc.htm

You may just be able to recognise the PP3 battery that I extracted from the remote control.

We all know that we shouldn't leave batteries in kit that's in storage but I can be as guilty as anyone. If I don't remove them completely, I'll put them in a plastic bag to leave with the kit.

Along with the LaserDisc player the same kind donor gave us a CED disc player with several discs, an N1500 VCR (the original one with mechanical clock) and an N1702.

I know these are not strictly broadcast kit but they are an important part of the history of TV. None of the video disc formats (nor the EVR film cartridge system) were very successful. Wrong products at the wrong time. The N1500 was a ground breaking product that led to the ubiquitous VHS. As always Philips went their own way and lost. Their V2000 system was technically good but couldn't compete against VHS which was then well entrenched.

For all the Betamax enthusiasts, this system did compete effectively with VHS for a while, especially in the USA. It also gave rise to the various BetaCam professional video cassette systems which dominated the broadcast world until the demise of tape as a medium.

We visited the V&A East Storehouse yesterday. https://www.vam.ac.uk/east

It's a fabulous place. Entry is free, but be prepared to queue because you have to put all bags in lockers and this is a bottleneck. You can "Order an Object" free of charge which is brought to a supervised handling area. This is done in advance via the website.

There are very few labels on objects. It's all done via the vam.ac.uk website. Thankfully there's no app, just the website. There is good, free, wifi which you can access with minimal effort and no password. You enter the level you're on and the number above the rack. Then you get a list of the objects in that section. You can click for more details. Very obviously sitting on a database of the V&A's collection. It wasn't foolproof. Sometimes it didn't link to the right objects. Some racks weren't labelled and then you needed to enter the number on the tag attached to an item. This was often not readable because it was too far away to be legible.
