Being ex employee as field engineer 1977 to 1990, I have a few assorted pdf files of their own manufacture test gear. Some made at Finglas, Dublin. More modern often made at Service HQ, St Andrews rd, Cambridge.

Of note, the 1.5GHz SG6 signal generators that I have seen all have decent HP step attenuators within.

The earlier manufacture small (tms, if gen, tm1, vhf & uhf reflectometer) test sets were blue and in a heavy case. The later ones were in a black aluminium case with a buff colour front panel and considerably lighter.

The SG3V and SG5U were the mainstay sig gens for many years on vans and in service depots. Mine was used from 1978 to 1990. They withstood a lot of bumping around. However, the spurious outputs a few tens of megs off carrier were at a fairly high level. Possibly only 30 or 40 dB down from memory? The output attenuator was a piston type with a 50 ohm termination resistor on the pick up loop. Easily burnt out with a tx feeding in!. Field replaceable with a 51 ohm resistor.

Hope this is of use?
