I have a minor item on my own website which details a sweep generator which I built. Now I realise that there is an increasing number of outfits which constantly trawl websites for information, but visitor logs show that the downloads of the sweep generator far exceeds that of all the rest of the content and I was wondering why? Is 'sweep' or 'generator' some type of desired keyword? I am just curious and would welcome opinions. Does any other reader have a similar 'favoured' item on their own site?

Just for completeness, the link in question is on the bottom of the page: https://www.mw0sec.co.uk/amateur.html

In several projects I have successfully used a NEO-6M GPS receiver. Never had any problems until recently with a new project. The raw data stream shows all the $GPGGA and other streams headers, the time is updated consistently yet the lat/long stuff either registers as 9's or empty comma separators.
Knowing that it can take a while under bad conditions for proper operation to occur, I was patient, but still no change after an hour's logging.
Suggestions warmly welcomed...

The posted pump, by Kasper, does not show the tiny fan in mine or mention it so maybe a later model fitment. Its so tiny I could likely blow harder ... but not for so long.

Kasper makes the point that these Lithium battery packs pack a punch and the cased up unit gets pretty hot. Sonewhere else I picked up that it should not be run for more than 30 mins. "...but the case gets too hot to touch". Care obviously needs to be taken as we have all seen on TV, battery packs catching fire.

But back to the fan. Its likely the driver transistor or fet has gone short and with SMD no chance of me finding that or replacing it. A partial fix is to wire it in parallel wih one of the pump motors and I went for the first stage as opperating out of the case, on the bench, I couldnt get the second stage piston one to run; no current drawn. Not having the opperating instructions I was not sure if there is a button sequence to press?

Of course the fan would not run during battery charging but care should be taken with that It i was me I would charge via a timer for short periods.

These motors take a lot of power, I measured over 6 amps for the first stage one ! So the driver having to cope with another 120 mA of the fan should be no bother.

The devices that control the fans are probably Mos Fets (never used by me) with their low voltage drop (0.1 V). It did amaze me that SMD, so small could handle these currents.

Hope this has been interested ...

Bought this sometime ago and still lots to learn.

Couldn't get Bluetooth sorted although it pairs with the PC OK. I have not found a way of moving pics from it to the PC.

So I tried a USB cable approach and the Pixel 8A shows up on the PC system tray but on opening just comes up "With this folder is empty". Any ideas of why that is. On an old not smart phone its folders show up on the PC just fine.

A couple of weeks ago, with an upcoming presentation, I wanted a laser pointer.

Attempt 1.

I bought one for £9 from Amazon, described in the product title as a "torch" and "flashlight", with images of it being used in a presentation. It arrived, I turned it on, and a massively intense beam struck the wall. In fairness, it had a laser safety label which stated it was class 3B, and saying that it was 100mW. That is the correct classification for a 100mW laser. The safe direct viewing distance for that power is 32 metres and a flash blindness distance of 800m; at 32m the beam has grown in diameter enough that the eye blink response of 0.25 seconds saves your retina from damage. Directly viewing the beam from a Class 3B will drill a hole in your retina and permanently damage your eyesight.

I reported this to Consumer Advice, and they have forwarded it to Trading Standards.

Attempt 2

Just arrived from an eBay sale, £3.99. The auction says in red "***Max. Output : 1mW (this is the UK legal limit)***" and saying "Use the laser to point at any desired targets from projection screens..."

It arrived, put batteries in, and turned on. An intense beam hit the wall - clearly not less that 1mW. Laser safety label says "Class 3, less than 5mW". That has a 0.25s viewing distance of 16m and a flash blindness distance of 80m. I actually think that this is significantly more that 5mW BTW.

The seller has paused the sales while he investigates.

Anyone got any of these where you have to mess about with a sucker, if you can find it, on the front of the bulb, to remove and replace them?

I Have some and with 8ft high ceilings and getting ancient and more dodery dont find this fun anymore. Anyway I came across these:

TBE LIGHTING 6.5w GU10 Spot Light Bulbs - 2 Pack - LED Long Barrel Reflector Bulbs with GU10 Base Fitting - 2700k Warm White - 650 Lumens - Replaces 11w CFL GU10 with Identical housing : Amazon.co.uk: Lighting

The long barrel leaves about 20mm sticking out of the fitting so no sucker needed. You soon dont notice this when off and when on you cant see it anyway. You have to get the type where ther barrel extends down the bulb.
