Found it - its the 438R resistor (connected to the 17.7R and 0.2M R resistors). The problem is that I dont have a 438R Welwyn resistor!

437 is an E192 value. The only one I've found of that value in through hole is at Mouser, and it is only a 1/4W part.
Looks like two values in parallel. 464//7k5 is good. Mouser stock a Vishay 464 ohm 3W wirewound part at £1.54 inc VAT, but you have to pay shipping for orders less that (I think) £35. The 7.5k part does not have to be high power. The 3W part is 1% and is 14.2mm long and 4.8mm diameter https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/V...kJmw%3D%3D You need to check from the design whether 3W is enough power too. Craig

I followed Jeffreys advice and soldered in 2 x 220R 2% 0.5watt resistors with a value of 438.9R. Having sorted out the zeroing by READING THE MANUAL (my error) the meter appears to be working well.
