Hello everyone, I am Rod, living in West Cornwall. I registered on this forum about a month ago because I needed a schematic which I had found posted here (Airmec valve voltmeter) and could only view it if registered. I have had a good rummage through old posts on here and you seem a decent bunch so I have decided to join in. The deciding factor was the post about Kenneth Williams presenting TW! I have long had an interest in electronics, building my first crystal set with my father while still in short trousers. I am not far off retirement age now. I did not take up a carreer in electronics, though it was on the list; I studied marine engineering and have remained in the mechanical/electrical engineering field ever since, sometimes touching on electronics: fault finding to component level on machine tool controls. I have always preferred valves to solid state maintaining/repairing old HiFi eqpt. and building amps to published designs. I do have several domestic, GC and comms receivers but I do not think of myself as a collector or restorer, I enjoy returning them to a state of functionality then using them. I am also interested in repairing and using anything old and mechanical or electrical from wrist watches through pianolas to vintage motorbikes and lorries and large ancient diesel generator sets.
I hope to be able to make some worthwhile contributions and thought that I would ask: what is the ettiquette when it comes to ressurecting old threads on this forum?
