Forum Rules and Ethos |
This document contains our rules, our ethos as a forum, and details of our staffing arrangements. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the details. Our RulesOur rules are few and simple; we aim to provide a relaxed and informal place for like-minded people to exchange information and build friendships, and we trust our members to help us achieve this goal. 1. Play nicely: 2. Watch your language: 3. Permitted topics: 4. Other sites: 5. Safety first: Our EthosThe Golborne Vintage Radio forum was created to provide a place for like-minded people to discuss all matters related to vintage radio and television. We encourage an atmosphere that is relaxed and informal, and we especially want this to be a place where beginners are welcomed. All members should feel comfortable about asking questions, offering advice, or posting up details of their repairs or restorations or home-brew projects. Constructive debate is also encouraged. All we ask is that people remain mindful of the rules, and also remember that there are always positive ways to put across opposing points of view without causing offence to other members. Posts that contain significant negativity without moving a conversation forward are discouraged. Please remember that our forums are indexed frequently by the search engines, which means that a visitor might well stumble upon a thread that we might have long forgotten. Before clicking "Post Reply", are you happy to stand by your post for many, many years into the future? Discussion of a range of subjects unrelated to vintage radio is permitted on this forum, subject to Rule 3. If a topic is felt to be too off-topic, even for a forum as relaxed as this one, then one of the team will provide guidance. Our teamThe Golborne Vintage Radio forum was founded by Mark Ryding and Steve Pendlebury back in 2011. As of 2020, Mark Hennessy is the Forum Owner. Moderation on this forum is deliberately "light-touch", but Moderators are here to help if needed. Should you have a problem on this forum, please contact one or more of the Moderators via the PM (private messaging) system in the first instance. Please give them time to respond to your issue - remember that all Moderators work in a voluntary capacity, and can't be available at all times of the day. If your problem is especially urgent, you could using the "Report" button (at the bottom of all forum posts) if appropriate. If you have an issue with the way the Moderators have acted, please contact the Forum Owner. Do not discuss the issue in public. The forum Moderators are as follows: Mark also acts as a Moderator. In addition, Mark and Nick are Administrators who deal with the behind-the-scenes technicalities. For new members...Having read through these rules, please spend a bit of time browsing the other guidance that we've posted in the Help section, and the "sticky" threads in the Forum Helpdesk - answers to most of your questions will be answered there. Finally...Thank you for reading this. We hope that you have an enjoyable time on the Golborne Vintage Radio Forum! Your Team. |
