Had this for years & years, bought from CPC back in the day, presumably a repaired return.

On powering a couple of days ago it was fine, showing the boot up on the pc, followed by showing Windows.

Then on following power ups it just showed a purple raster but switching it on and off a couple of time when the box had reached the Windows persuaded it to work.

But, as expected, it got worse & now it's stuck in purple mode, seemingly permanently.

Has anyone experience of working on these?

Getting into the thing seems difficult judging by the solitary vid on the web.

It's a lovely thing but destined for the skip. Ho very hum.
Probably dried up capacitors, worth a try fixing it if destined for the skip.
Yes, the chap on youtube seemed to be pulling each & every electrolytic out.

All of them.

Then replacing them all, hopefully the right way round & in the right place.
I would go for the main "mains to DC" cap first. If that is not up to par all the voltages pulse a bit and then the smoothers on the DC lines in the PSU.
Mind you a monitor like that would cost less (maybe a lot less) then £100. But us lot of "try fix it" mentality will try. It has been said I would like presents of broken things, much more fun than a working one, unlike designing something you know this worked once, the engineers crossword.
Curiously the brightness up & down buttons seem to work which indicates that the uC is doing something.

I wonder how much I paid for it back in the day.

When it worked it was quite a glorious monitor with that flat screen crt.
