Had my account limited due to "suspicious activity"
Logged in ok, asks to change password, which I have done and it works.
Then, told to scan qr code with my linked phone. I did this and it sent a validation text with 6 digits which I entered on phone.

All I then get is my phone with a white screen and stuck on "ID Validation" at page www.paypal.com and on my pc screen an egg timer in a rotating circle with message "Keep this page open while you finish on your phone".
"You’ll continue here once you’ve finished"

Thing is, it gets stuck here.

This is the third attempt and each time the 2 actions detailed immediately above here are all i get.

I emailed them as a reply to my "suspicious activity" email explaining all this and a request for telephone help.
Just being ignored 8 hours now!

I can log in to my paypal account ok, but all transactions are blocked by paypal. Just get the red message to resolve the security issues, which is what I have tried to do without success.

I left the pc and phone running 17 minutes now and still the same non activity.

I looked online but cant find a uk phone number to help.

Any ideas anyone, please?

Thanks, Rob
Found one, but not open until tomorrow morning.
Fingers crossed.

Could it be a scam and they now have access to your account?

Doesn't sound like it. More likely the phone OS or Browser is incompatible in some fashion. They do lock accounts.
No, its not a scam. It started after I changed my login info on holiday 6 weeks ago and mistakenly tried to login with old credentials.

I seldom use paypal and 2 days ago tried logging in.
Because it failed (as it would) I THOUGHT it had been hacked and contacted them immediately by message link.
They restricted my account as a safety measure, which was correct.
I then realised what I had done and it was when trying to restore it I got this problem.
It is restored in as much as I can login. I have complied with their request and changed my password.

It is the final stage of my verification it will not complete. As detailed above.

SO, I sent them the info, like as i put on here.

They replied overnight, giving me information asking to contact them and choose best option from list to tell them what the problem is that I have!

Trouble is, each step is nearly 24 hours, so i am still at the beginning on the third day.

I will phone this morning and try that.

Thanks for moral support!

Rob
20 minutes on the phone to a most helpful and knowledgeable lady and all is now sorted.

Great.
To help anyone else if need be, the number is:
02039017000
You must use a mobile as they send a text with a 6 digit otp.
You also need the last 4 digits of the bank account number associated with your paypal account.
Rob
Thanks for giving us the benefit of your experience. A while ago my wife's PP account was restricted. I forget the reason but it took far too much effort to sort it out.

Beware if you receive a call apparently from the number Rob has given: https://who-called.co.uk/Number/02039017000

Yes, got an email from credit card company. Boiled down to; "We'll never ask anything from you out of the blue and any email or call asking for info is fake. You must contact us, and not from a link in email or SMS."
The Road Toll company and An Post periodically send similar warnings.

Caller ID on phone numbers and and From on emails are easy to fake.
