Noticed this evening that 302, 303, 304, and 305 movie channels had disappeared.
Apparently all 9 of the "Great" channels have disappeared from Freesat.
Though the only one I ever looked at was 305 which had a diet of action films.
I watch telly about three times a week, before I do that a retune is done just in case. They do shuffle around a bit.
The "Great" channels have successfully shuffled off Freesat.
Still available on Freeview for now.
TCM was great in Analogue Sat days and gradually degraded on Digital with the new owner. I think it's gone now?
We have a distribution system fed from 5 LNBs on one dish. But hardly more than German Eurosport and BBC for tennis is watched. The UK C5 was FTA on Analogue and then when Analogue Sat closed we lost it for a while. Though I can't remember ever watching it.
I rather miss the Smithsonian channel. There were some good documentaries on that.
I've just checked this..... I've got an old Humax 'Freesat' box and the channels were still there until I ran the channel update and this removed all the 'Great' channels as posted above !
So they have only been removed from the EPG but are still being broadcast, probably for Sky customers.
If you can do a manual retune on 11307 V, SR 27500 & FEC 5/6 you will get them all back but probably not with the channel numbers you're used to.

Or a spat about Freesat EPG charges.
There are 100,000s of sat boxes with no Freesat or Sky EPG and they will get all the FTA. Some at only €45 also have WiFi, YouTube, HDD or stick USB recording and a Conax CAM and card reader for various legal European subscription channels. Also they work with Multswitch, Diseq, motorised etc. I had a Humax and it was a total pain to to use outside of Freesat. The last Sky HD box I had could only add SD, not HD FTA channels not on the EPG.
All non-Freesat, non-Sky boxes can have free EPG for up to a week (FTA or encrypted channels. The UK channels only have now & next unless the box is Sky or Freesat.
Also it's a condition (or was) of Freesat licencing for a box that non-Fresat and Diseqc or motor modes had to be via a secret menu. How is that reasonable? Why do they want a walled garden for a FTA service (to viewers)? The Broadcasters have to pay for Sky EPG and Freesat EPG as well as satellite carriage charges. The Sky EPG charges are high but free if the channel is encrypted.
Noticed today that all the Freesat music channels have disappeared.
Apparently they're gone for good.
Not that I listened to them.
Presumably no one else did either.
I get the feeling that anything which is predictable these days is old hat and doomed.
Each day, when I turn on I find what I find. Most types of thing are still around if you look hard enough

My defaults are Radios 4, 4Extra or the World Service, otherwise read a book.
