I have a very early Solitron power supply. SRS153s . The internal layout is nothing like the
SRS153s.2 The only manual I have found is for the 0.2 version can anyone help please.

I would like to describe the problem I have with the SRS153. It has 85 volts AC superimposed on the DC
output lines. Regardless of the voltage control setting. This is measured to earth. This I found out the hard
way.
Having connected the supply to my HRO receiver I got a shock off the metal case.
If anyone can cast any light on this I would grateful.

Hi Tony. possible leakage from mains, either due to transformer windings or possibly a faulty Y cap if they are fitted.
Try measuring insulation resistance from mains lead to the chassis

Solartron used decent tfmr's and components in their power supply's. The one in my AC meter used Partridge chokes and a Gresham mains tfmr as well as TCC paper in oil caps, all tested ok, still, yours may have had a hard life. Give it a good visual going over, AFAIK there should be a Y cap in there, but couldn't swear to it. Some good quality pics would help.

Both my Solartron PSUs needed nothing except new mains cable after many years sitting unused. No electrolytics. All top grade metal can paper caps. When I get home I can look out my documents.
A good place to start is to check the mains plug and that you have good continuity of your mains earth. Every bit of new gear I get I start by checking the mains plug, swopping the usual 13A fuse for a 3A or 5A (if needed) and check the main fuse on said bit of kit. What fuse is fitted can tell you a lot about what sort of life it had led. Old nails and bolts and the proverbial old blown fuse wrapped in kit kat foil being a dead give away that all is not well : )
