I'm always on the lookout for suitable material to use as loudspeaker grille cloth and recently saw a nice cushion in Asda for only £4.

It's made from two squares of recycled polyester material approx. 40cm x 40cm and has a suitably open weave to it.
Of course, if you only use the cover for this purpose you'll be left with the inner cushion itself, so maybe that could be used to refresh an existing cushion you've got.

I buy woven place mats, lots of the patterns are very period fret looking and they are really plastic so they are easy to fix and look good.

Unfortunately my main source is the Philippines, so at the moment supplies are interrupted.
