Hi All,
The cut out pin keeps springing open all the time, even when not being used. Is there anything I do to stop this from happening.
Best Regards
Rob
It's a long time since I stripped one of these but it's likely to be wear. It's a simple latch if I remember correctly but I stand to be corrected if my memory is playing tricks. It may respond to dressing the latch or even cleaning.
I have an Avo8 with that problem but I must admit that when I opened it for a look I chickened out and decided to live with it.

I had a look inside yesterday. It holds for a while and then will suddenly open for no reason?

It happens on mine occasionally. Best leave it alone, methinks.
I have been known to hold it in when sure that there will not be an overload. :-)
ok, thanks for the advice

I had that problem on my '8'. It steadily got worse over time. On dismantling I found that part of the mount was broken which made the works insecure on one side (If I remember rightly the spring was putting a one sided force on things so the catch was touchy). A touch of superglue fixed the mount. I did not expect it to last long but luckily has lasted a good number of years now.

I decided to have a look at the Avo 7 multimeter this afternoon. The spring clip doesn't seem right as its not pulling back the cutout lever. However, until today I didn't not the damage that has been done!! I do have some questions:
- is this the cause of the cut out issues?
- is this repairable?
- what are the values of the resistors that need to be replaced?
I'm assuming that these are Welwyn type resistors but I have no idea of the values?

I attach the manual, which has the resistor values on the schematic. It should be possible to figure out what the burned resistor value is by looking at the wiring against the schematic.
Good luck!
