Stopped working so I tried a new bit but no joy.  Then I took it apart.  Fortunately I marked the orientation of the body, barrel, plastic spacer etc.  Even so very tricky to get it back together without a wire breaking off    Would like to see the ladies in the factory do it.

Element good, switch good and so simply cleaned the tip of the heat conductor to the bit and it is now working.

Hope it keeps going.   If you have to buy parts its hardly worth it as they charge so much for them.

Well that was yesterday. Seems a dodgy switch and its £50 for that or £90 for a new iron. Guess thats what they want you to buy.

Not a Weller, I have a RS soldering station, stock number 544-594, 24 volt 50 watt which they no longer stock. Should I ever need any spare tips, does know where I can buy them, example stock number 544-617, 544 623 or 544 601 etc for alternative temperatures. The existing ones were made in USA. Ted
