To explain - fitted to a C123 changer I have is what looks like a magnetic cartridge which is oonly marked '602 (could be 802) - Japan' with no brand name on either the cartridge or the stylus. Checking with a DMM on it's 20Meg. range at the RCA Sockets to which the P.U. wires are connected, however, shows that the cartridge is acting like a capacitor in as much as it will rapidly 'charge' from a low resistance to many Megohms, whereas I would have expected a Magnetic Cart. to have a fairly low & constant resistance reading. Anyone know anything about this cartridge? Maybe it's a ceramic cart.,which looks like a typical MM one?
If you can identify the input requirements of whatever it is connected to, that might help.
I bought the C123 to replace a faulty deck in a Ferguson Stereogram (don't recall the model No.) A ceramic cart. would have been originally fitted.
Have you got a camera, photos always help to jog ones memory.
It could be a copy of a more well known type.
Have you tested the deck and cartridge with the Ferguson yet?
Mike
Mike, I can take a photo of the cartridge, and will do so later. As the Ferguson Stereogram is at it's owner's house about a mile from here, I'd rather not take it there only to find that the cartridge isn't suitable, besides which the stylus fitted has lost the actual 'needle' from the end. I do have a ceramic cartridge I can fit instead, but not the correct mounting bracket for it.
