As I posted in the other post. I have recently acquired this 3in1 portable sound machine but I'm facing some problems with the sound when using the record player. The radio and tape functions work well and with a powerful loud sound but only when I use the record player I need to turn the volume knob to the maximun and the sound is too low and sometimes disappear. It gets sometimes stronger when I touch or press the arm right over the capsule. I want to know if it's the capsule only or it may be another problem.
Thank you
It would be worth checking the connections to the cartridge and that the stylus is correctly located but it does sound as if the cartridge itself is the problem.
I think the same. The cartdrige must be the problem. But it will be hard to buy another one to replace, I know it's a ceramic capsule but I cannot put any other model, I think, I need to know the model and be lucky to find one in good conditions. I really want to make this machine work. I bought specially because it has connections to send the sound to another dispositive or to digitalize and listen to my 78 rpm records.

I don't see any reason why not, unless it has a non-standard fixing. A machine like that is unlikely to require a high output cartridge so any available ceramic cartridge should do the trick.
I think I saw something on the UKVRRR forum about some cartridges being too big to fit the arm, so that might be a factor to consider. Also whether the arm is designed for High Compliance cartridges or not. You might be able to find out by doing a web search for the deck itself or the specification of the existing cartridge.

I don't see why not. I think I read a comment on the UKVRRR forum that some cartridges are too big to fit the arm but otherwise, unless it has some special fitting method, I would expect virtually any cartridge to be suitable.
It would be worth checking if the arm is designed for high compliance cartridges or not - it might help if you can find a specification for the existing cartridge.
Apologies for the duplicate post. I looked at something else, came back and was asked to log in again, so assumed that the previous reply hadn't been posted as I was just offered a reply with the quote but nothing else!
I've now looked at the Manual and User Guide.
Despite the detailed exploded diagrams which seem to show every screw and fixing both inside and outside, there is no detail of the cartridge fixing!
Also, there is no sign of there being more than one stylus, so no stylus for 78 rpm records although it is a 3-speed player!
The head shell, though, is drawn as if it is very narrow. Also, the diagram for changing the stylus in the user guide depicts a stylus similar to a BSR TC8, so I think we can say emphatically that it is not a high compliance cartridge.
I've come across a number of pictures on flea-bay of various Sanyo pickup heads, though not for this model that show them as plugging into the arm. There is nothing in the manuals to suggest that is the case here, but the photos show what appears to be a standard 2-screw half-inch (12.7mm) fixing.
Is that what you've got Lucas?
