In the Nottingham area as well as the usual H & X shaped aerials there were a few K shaped ones as well. Whether they were a straight dipole with a forwards bent director, or a forwards bent dipole with a straight reflector I don't know as I never saw one close up. I don't suppose they worked any better than an H or X, could have been cheaper to make though, or were they a sales gimmick? Getting a bit cynical now aren't I? Lol...
Didn't explain how the K worked in the comments & I was curious. I was wondering if it's a dipole + director would the straight dipole be a better impedance match to the 75 ohms co-ax than the backwards sloping dipole of an X? BTW first time I've been on that site for ages, thought it had closed, thanks for link...

Funnily enough, your post there came top of a search I did! I was sure I'd seen it discussed elsewhere - including details of the arrangements for the elements (I'm sure there are two versions of the X) - but couldn't find anything anywhere else.
Since Chris threw all his toys out of the pram and closed VRAT he has introduced a Mark 2 version:
https://www.radios-tv.co.uk/community/ but I find it clumsy and dificult to use - particularly if you don't look at it for a few days. For example, only the last half dozen posts are shown in the recent posts sidebar but they are individual posts - not threads - so all could relate to same thread!
An expanded view follows the same pattern so you might need to plough through several pages to find a selection of recent threads. The system here is vastly superior.
However, the old forum is still available - as you can see - and he has retained a copy of the very useful
Pembers Ponderings site, although I have a copy of my own on the laptop. (I really
must copy it onto this desktop!)
I would suggest that you repost your request in the uk d-i-y usenet group. You are sure to attract the attention of
Bill Wright - an, if not
the, acknowledged expert on all matters relating to TV aerials. If you really want to make sure of attracting his attention, others in the past have successfully used post headings like 'Question for Bill Wright'!
It's certainly worth a try!
When I said it was on my laptop, that was true but I remembered that I moved into my Dropbox, so here's another source:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/efy2456iru2hf2....html?dl=0
Much to my surprise, when I checked the VRAT 2 site just be fore 8 o'clock, a miraculous change had occurred!
The Recent Posts folder now contains a list of the last few posts under each thread title so that there is now a lot more information on each page and it is much easier to follow. In fact, there are now only three pages whereas earlier on there were, I think, 13!
There is no 'go to first unread post' facility though, so it still needs a bit of digging to find out where you were but it is a vast improvement on what was there before.
Coincidence ... or what?
I also have a safe copy of Pembers' Pondering.
Please remember that we have an unwritten policy of not knocking other forums

No Coincidence Terry. I'm sure Chris looks in here as a guest many a time and I have it from a good source that he misses the earlier days of VRAT. We did also exchange a few nice messages prior to Christmas, I get the feeling he isn't hugely happy.
Wouldn't it be nice if we all could get on better, being on many forums of different interests I do find that Vintage Radio & TV ones seem to attract some with problems or an axe to grind, I still reel at the time I was given death threats......... that's another story in itself though.
Just been browsing the Wrights Aerial site, enjoying the Rogues Gallery & Annexe, especially the part about us baby boomers, lol..
