With analogue switch-off looming large, I mentioned in another thread that there are some set-top boxes which have an inbuilt RF modulator so that the box can be used for older TVs which don't have a SCART socket input. The one that I had in mind is now discontinued, but there's one at the link below which looks very good, reduced from £50 down to £17. Bargain!

Hope it's of interest to telly addicts!

Thanks David,
We were in the market for a new box as ours has an intermittent 'crash' problem being an early Sagem. This looks a good piece of kit at a bargain price + FREE P&P. I have ordered one today.

Some months back I'd offered a portable colour TV FOC on the forum, which had no SCART socket, but it had no takers and the BVWS didn't want it on the B&B at Globorne. Perfect working order, but with digital changeover imminenent, without a SCART socket it meant that not just a digi box but an RF modulator would also have been needed (or so I thought). Hence, rather than just take the TV to the tip, I pulled it to pieces and scavenged what I could - the speaker, some ICs and transistors, some high voltage caps, including electrolytics, which when tested had a very low ESR so were still like new.

Then I discovered the box I referred to above at a knock down price, with a built in RF modulator ideal for older TVs, which would have converted the set to digital. It looks quite a nice piece of kit too, which is whhy I posted the link. I hope it proves to be a good buy!

Welcome to the forum by the way - I love your avatar!
