I've had my two panel AVO Valve tester about 12 years now, It has been very useful and still is. One limitation was the lack of the small valve bases so I modified the panel to fit B9A, B8A and B7G valve bases, this pretty much allows me with the existing bases to test all valves.

However on big problem has been the heater selection being limited to volts of 2, 2.5,4,5,6,7.5,10,13,16,20,26,30,35 & 40 Some valves heaters can be anywhere between the testers upper limit of 40 right up to 177v. AVO produced an extension unit which extends the heater capabilities by filling in with 1.1,1.4,3,14,45,5055,70,90,117.

The valve panel plugs into the extension unit, then the extension into the main unit. Then the main units power lead is connected back into the extension unit via a special Bulgin plug. The extension unit provide the main 240v.

I have been looking for one of these for those 12 years and never seen one, until the other day, now I have it.

Hi Chris, was it you who bought the two panel extension, i have a two panel tester too, nice bit of kit, yes although mine has all the needed valve bases, some i added. It would be nice if you have the option of higher heater volts, this gives more of a range of valves you can now test, enjoy......regards...Alan.
