Wanted help with my tv .It went to someone to have a new battary fitted for then developed another problem were the volume/brightness ect controls went from 0 to full with nothing inbetween.Although i fetched the tv back this week after 6month i havent had a chance to look at it yet and iam waiting for a list of what he had checked for.The memory borad /icc ? possable cause?
Any help from someone who may have worked on this model would be welcome
David
Do they do this on the remote, the TV or both?

Cheers,

Steve P.
I beleave both as i only recently managed to get an origanal replacement remote and he said it still had the problem when he tryed it.So i asume its the set memory borad .But i dont know yet if he tryed for dry joints.

David.
Never mind if he's done it or not. Do it yourself, that way you know it's right!!!

just to clarifie was the fault there before it was sent for a replacement battery?
do you now have a manual?
do you own and know how to use a scope?
it can be awkward to fault find on the comander pannel.

WinkWell some good news at last.
I have tryed the tv this morning and a part from doing the normal set up ect and the digital box tuneing i carnt see what the problem was after they had put a new battary replacement in .So everything seams ok Wink
When setting it up there was a cinemascope film on .I woulderd if there was a way to get wide screen type films to fit full on the old tv screens.

There is a small blue cap on the commander board.. (50µf 6.3v from memory) it goes leaky causing some pretty funky happenings.. I think it's there to filter timebase spikes rather than anything else.. general rule with these types of digital circuits is the minute they become suspect replace all the tired electrolytics.

Remotes are an art to themselves.. usually liquid damage.. I hate them..

Can't count how many pc motherboards I have resurrected by changing just the one cap by the agp slot.. always edging the rating.. I use 10v instead of the 6.3 usually fitted (and don't bother too much with the actual value) and no more problems. Smile
