I've just knocked this up, from the August 1978 Everyday Electronics, on a floorboard :-

I used 2N2222s as I've only got one BC548.

It works without an external aerial but sounds pretty lousy. At first it was just like a valve radio with shot smoothers.

Changing R1 for a 220K preset improved that but the output seems very low. I've got it connected to my bench amp on 200 gain but it still sounds like the leakage from somebody else's headphones. It's strange as, whatever other faults it had, that FET thing I made sounded very nice.

I've got too many radios as it is, and am in fact having a clear out, so really don't need to make any more and am only fiddling about to pass the time until I go to fetch my latest auction purchases - more on which anon.
