Hi All,
This evening was the first opportunity I've had to try some old test gear that I have recently purchased - a tektronix T935A 'scope, an HP39999A waveform generator and an Avo HF134 signal generator.
I started off with the Avo connected to the 'scope - flatline no matter what! I then connected the HP waveform generator. All ok here, the 'scope has a crisp display and the waveform generator working well in its 3 function modes (sinewave/sawtooth/squarewave).
Therefore, no problems with the 'scope and the generator. I re-attached the Avo - still flatline.
I suppose the obvious thing to do is to attached this to a radio but I would have thought that I would have some output through the scope

Any suggestions and comments - am I being a thicko and have missed the obvious?

Well, first of all check the simple stuff? Fuses, lead, switch etc.

Is it inactive on all bands?

I will need to check further.
It is powering on and when adjusting through the bands and increasing the RF output, the RF level meter is giving some indication of output.

Check the socket and any test leads you are using, and do the radio trick too.

Jamie : A meter is the first thing. Then a signal generator. Maybe a scope. But make sure the kit works and you understand it's readings. An Isolation Transformer should be high on the list too.

Hi All,
I endeavoured to have a look at this the other night but I must admit that I am having trouble tabing it apart and I dont want to damage it. I removed the back plate only to find that there is an internal chassis. I removed the four screws holding this together and it still wouldn't come apart.

Any thoughts and comment most welcome please.

Is the dial and setting on the radio the same. e.g. is 200kHz on the signal generator dial where it comes on the radio.

Hi All,
I've tried this today on an Ekco set that Josh Ward has (i went to visit him for a radio 'workshop' which was really useful). Its working perfectly!!!

Why cannot 'see' any signal through an oscilloscope though?

Rob, I would hazard a guess that you have not set your scope up sufficiently for it to trigger when it's sweeping. Try some adjustments, have you got it set to auto trigger. If you have not done the 2hour TEK course over on the other forum I fully recommend that you do, it is excellent and the TEK engineer is so easy to understand. At the end of it you will be a basic scope pilot
