The forerunner to Skoda Laurin and Klement were a very innovative company and this article is indeed very interesting.

I have to say I did know about some of this in pre internet days while Technical adviser for the SSOC.
The MB has often been wrongly described as a Renault Dauphine in drag this is as far from the case as a BMW 2002 was made by Hillman in Linwood!!!!!
Anyway the article is correct re Robert Bosch and the Renault R16 engine, note the old Skoda Octavia (440) also had an alloy block.
