Good afternoon and a Happy New Year to everyone!
Starting the New Year I have taken stock of just how many projects are in the ‘to do’ pile at present. One of which is a pair of 1950s 12" Bakers Selhurst speakers on which the Alnico magnets appear to have lost their magnetism over time.
I have done some research on the internet and noted the dire warnings about trying to do a DIY ‘recharge’ of the magnets and was wondering whether anyone here has had practical experience of the recharging/re-magnetisation process please?
If it is not possible to effectively recharge the magnets at home, are there any companies in the UK who you have used to re-magnetise alnico speaker magnets (I note that there are some in the US but the speakers aren’t worth enough to incur the expenses associated with sending to the US)?
Any assistance/suggestion would be gratefully received. The speakers are ‘too nice’ to be discarded IMHO.
Thank you
Adam
