Hi.
For a while I have had one of those RTL dongles, it works OK but I thought it was a little lacking.
So I bought one of these https://www.wish.com/c/58b4e8f74a1a9f531ababb2b for its extended coverage and more robust construction and screening.
It comes with a decent well screened USB cable and an antenna with a good long lead for keeping it away from the PC. It works well on SDR Sharp, & 1090. On linux GQRX as well. There is a snag there is nothing between 100Khz & 30Mhz on its input. I have contacted Wish support and waiting for a reply.
In the meantime I downloaded Skywave Linux http://skywavelinux.com/
This needs a 64 bit PC so I have the laptop and an older notebook to try it on. I downloaded it onto the pc and wrote a bootable image to a stick. It loads OK but even after partitioning the HDD and installing it you cant find the boot. Very odd as I've had Ubuntu & Mint running side by side before.
Any ideas chaps would be welcome.
