A few TR82s that had been dropped have passed through my hands but I've never had a problem with the tuning gang.
The chassis fixings and the ferrite rod were the usual casualties. The spring steel chassis fixings clipped onto mounting posts on the plastic body and it was the plastic that broke away. Back in the day, Bush could supply the centre body section quite cheaply, so it was an easy fix.
Incidentally, we found that the original pink Windolene was excellent for bringing the rest of the cabinet up to showroom condition.
